Sailors Rest is an established restaurant on the Geelong Waterfront with 3 recently renovated levels. We offer all day breakfast, lunch and dinner in our ground floor restaurant and backyard beer garden from our brand kitchen. We serve a bar snacks menu from our second level kitchen to our cocktail lounge customers and offer functions in all areas of our venue. We are an industry icon in Geelong and lead with superb quality of food and unmatched customer service. We are an ever-expanding business that looks after their employee as if they were family.

We are looking for a qualified Cook to join our business and be a key contributing factor to the kitchen’s success

Your responsibilities will include the following:

Review and examine the food to ensure quality
Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
Preparing and cooking food
Seasoning food during cooking
Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding sauces and garnishes
Storing food in temperature controlled facilities
Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
May plan menus and estimate food requirements
May train other kitchen staff and apprentices
The successful applicant will ideally have the following qualifications:

AQF Certificate IV or
AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training.

At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications.

In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
