About the role An exciting temporary part-time, maternity leave opportunity (25 hours/week) has become available for a customer-focused Host and Guide for the city of Parramatta Cultural Heritage & Tourism Centre.
The City of Parramatta has been planning, developing and delivering innovative visitor servicing initiatives across the city and we interpret and share the story of this place that gives people a compelling reason to live, work or visit. Hosts & Guides roles within the Cultural Heritage & Tourism team are integral to delivering engaging visitor servicing, 363 days per year that significantly influences visitor perceptions and experiences.
The role will be responsible for the delivery of specialist, targeted visitor programs and services that facilitate quality visitor experiences in accordance with Council’s strategic objectives.
About the person The successful candidate should have previous experience in working in a dynamic fast paced environment, as well as the ability to deliver tours, activities and programs. Previous experience working in interpretation and informal Learning environments is essential. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 2 years Tour Guiding or Visitor Services experience. You will hold Tertiary Qualification (Certificate lll and above in tourism, guiding or Interpretation or related industry and/or demonstrated industry experience. The City of Parramatta welcomes applications from candidates who speak a second language, such as Hindi, Arabic, Chinese or Mandarin. This is desirable however not essential and applications are open to all candidates who meet the criteria.
What’s on offer We are offering a temporary Maternity Leave position. Days and hours are subject to business demand; the successful candidate will work mainly seasonally however will be on a 7 day a week rotating roster. We are offering an attractive salary from $70,292 rate p.a. This will be paid as an hourly rate of $38.48 plus loading and weekend penalties rates where applicable.
